Suggested Guidelines for the Boulder WADG

The Boulder WADG meeting Tuesday mornings at the Meadows Library has 2 sessions:

10-11:	Discussion of a current event topic. The topic is selected by the person who volunteered for that day. The discussion leader will raise the basic discussion topic, moderate the discussion, call on members and control the flow of the discussion. It is the responsibility of the leader to maintain order and quiet interruptions as needed. The moderator will generally follow the suggested discussion ground-rules.
11-12:	Discussion of the chosen book or article. The book/article will be discussed and selected by a majority vote of the participants. Books/Articles are generally: a) Large books, discussed over many weeks or months. b) Small books, discussed over a few weeks c) Selected articles, distibuted in paper or by email, discussed for one week. The leader of the book discussion is not to give a presentation on the subject, rather to guide the discussion for the benefit of all members. Participants are expect to have read some or all of the chosen book/article.
The discussion leader will raise the basic discussion topic, moderate the discussion, call on members and control the flow of the discussion.

The group will try to have a crisp delineation of the two hours.

Some suggested ground-rules for the discussions:

• Raise you hand to be called on.

• Do not interrupt the current speaker

• Raise you hand to be called on.

• Stay on topic

• Practice concise eloquence

• Respect other opinions

• Accept criticism of your opinion

• The session should be a group discussion, not a one-to-one dialog.

• Avoid anarchy and promote courteousness.

• On-topic humor is appreciated
